The Food and Drug Administration granted Genzyme Corp. Fast Track Status for experimental multiple sclerosis drug, Alemtuzumab. The same active substance is marketed under the brand name of Campath, to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL).

The Food and Drug Administration delivered a Fast Track Status for Canadian Aeterna Zentaris and U.S. Keryx Biopharmaceuticals, KRX 0401 drug, to treat colorectal cancer.

Canada´s BioMS Medical Corp announced its lead experimental drug for the treatment of multiple sclerosis dirucotide (MBP8298) was granted fast-track status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Biotech firm Lexicon Pharmaceuticals said the FDA granted Fast Track Status to its experimental LX1032, an oral small molecule drug candidate designed for the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with carcinoid syndrome. Lexicon will initiate a multi-dose Phase 1b trial of LX1032 in June 2008
