New Jersey-based Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. said its shareholders approved the proposed buyout of the company by Israeli generic drug maker Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries. In July, Teva offered to buy Barr Pharmaceuticals for $7.46 billion in stock and cash.

Anglo Swedish drug maker AstraZeneca Plc said that Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has been granted approval by the Food and Drug Administration for a generic version of its asthma medication Pulmicort. AstraZeneca has brought a patent infringement case against Teva.

Actavis Group hf said U.S. regulators sued seeking a permanent injunction against its subsidiary that makes the heart drug Digitek. Actavis makes the drug for Mylan Inc., which distributes it under its Bertek and UDL brands.

Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that its subsidiary, PLIVA - Lachema a.s., has received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its generic version of Pfizer Inc.´s Camptosar (irinotecan hydrochloride) injection, 20 mg/mL, indicated as a first-line treatment (in combination with fluorouracil and leucovorin) for patients with metastatic carcinoma of the colon or rectum, or in a recurrence of the disease.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co., Inc´s Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for dorzolamide ophthalmic solution, 2%, the generic for Merck & Co´s Trusopt 2%.

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s syndicate of lending banks agreed to keep the company's unsecured credit facilities in place after Barr's sale to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd for $ 7.46 billion dollars.
