Biogen Idec and Genentech Inc announced they would be jointly developing an experimental cancer treatment that works through a similar mechanism as their shared blockbuster Rituxan/Mabthera treatment for non-Hodgkins lymphoma and rheumatoid arthritis. Genentech acquired the rights to GA101 from Roche Holding AG, a majority shareholder in Genentech.

Amgen Inc. announced signing a deal with Swedish firm Biovitrum AB, wherein Amgen will sell its biologic therapeutic products Kepivance and Stemgen to Biovitrum. In addition, Amgen will also sell to Biovitrum its worldwide exclusive license to Kineret for the currently approved indication. The financial terms of the transaction include an upfront payment of approximately $130 million.
