King Pharmaceuticals’ and Alpharma Inc’s boards signed an agreement in which the Bristol, Tennessee-based company will acquire Bridgewater, New Jersey-based for about $1.6 billion. The amount is the same that Alpharma had rejected as too low last month and ends a takeover fight that began with King’s $1.4 billion offer last August.
