The European Medicines Agency recommended withdrawal of several batches of Sanofi-Aventis SA and Bristol Myers Squibb Co. blockbuster drug, Plavix (Clopidogrel) that were manufactured by Acino Holding AG at a factory in India due to quality concerns. In fact, last Thursday, the European Regulators office recommended market withdrawal, due to failure at a factory in Visakhapatnam, India, where the active substance for the affected Acino product is produced. Private investment bank Capital pointed out that Clopidogrel manufactured by Swiss Acino, is the top selling drug for the company with sales of 56 million dollars annually. Plavix is the world´s second most selling drug, with 9.985 million dollars during 2009. Publish comment:
